Nurse Practitioner

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and diagnose clients according to DSM-5 criteria. 
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications.
  • Prescribe and monitor Medication Assisted Treatments for Substance Use Disorders.
  • Provide clinical services that are culturally competent and sensitive to the racial and ethnic backgrounds of the community served.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team on client treatment and provide education on both medical and mental health topics.
  • Assume responsibilities as the Health Coordinator which includes conducting health assessments on clients and providing health related education both individually and in groups to clients.
  • Maintain electronic medical records in compliance with mandated regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • New York State Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry.
  • DEA certification.
  • Must be waivered to prescribe buprenorphine under the Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000), or must complete 24 hours of waiver training within the first 3 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner experience working within an OMH or OASAS program or other related setting.
  • Must be able to work independently, or have an existing Collaborative Practice Agreement with a Psychiatrist if required by NYSED.


  • Part-time, 14 hours per week divided between the 2 locations.
  • Requires 1 evening per week.
