SOS Social Work Intern (Unpaid)

Program Summary:

The FCA Safe Observant Senior Program provides support to elder abuse crime victims over the age of 60 who reside in Nassau County.  Services include a weekly support group when appropriate, resource connections, short term crisis counseling, and criminal justice navigation/advocacy.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Assist case managers/counselors in the completion of the intake process on assigned cases
  • Assist case managers in the development and implementation of case management goals
  • Build and maintain a community network of referral sources and provision in order to successfully provide linkage to services to support successful service plans
  • Observe and assist facilitation of Support Group(s)
  • Assist with Quality Assurance Surveys
  • Assist with data entry of reporting and data collection
  • Coordination of interagency collaboration and service delivery
  • Direct client contact available for candidates meeting requirements

Qualifications and Requirements include:

·  Human Services or Business Majors accepted

·  Intermediate computer skills with MS Office required

·  Excel knowledge a plus

·  Knowledge of Nassau County resources and legal systems a plus

·  Valid NYS driver's license with a safe and responsible driving record preferred but not required

Schedule:

·  2-3 Days per week, 14-21 hours preferred

·  Tuesdays including 4:30 – 6 pm; Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays availability strongly preferred

Supervision:

·  1 hour of Supervision per week with Case Counselor  (LMSW)
