Housing Recovery Peer Advocate

The Opportunity

The THRIVE Housing Recovery Peer Advocate will provide recovery support services via coaching and group facilitation onsite at housing programs THRIVE has developed partnerships with.  The THRIVE Housing Recovery Peer Advocate will provide majority of services in the field within the housing programs, addressing the needs of residents within the programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong working collaboration with staff at housing programs that Director has developed partnership with.
  • Identify in-home needs of residents within housing programs, provide coaching and groups to meet these identified needs.
  • Identify community based supports, including events at THRIVE Recovery Centers, to connect residents with.
  • Develop and implement groups onsite at THRIVE Recovery Centers to engage residents in onsite services specific for their housing program.
  •  Assist in developing plans for expanding the agency's presence within the housing programs.
  • Keep communication open and continuous with agency, supervisor(s), staff & members of the team of new and important information that could support ongoing and development of new programs within the agency. Also keep agency apprised of new developments such as resources, organizations, and agencies as they become available
  • Provide information and literature about the program to potential clients
  • Provide monthly reports for agency and agency partners
  • Position works evenings and 1 weekend day


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required 
  • Completion of 30 hours CCAR- Recovery Coach Academy and 16 hours peer ethics training
  • Relevant life experience required, which includes personal experience living with a disability, history of substance use, or social/emotional challenge, and willingness to draw upon this experience to serve as a role model to support the recovery goals of individuals served.

  • Familiarity with recovery skills, support services, and local community resources required, 

  • A valid New York State Driver's License is required.

 Additional Information

 Full-time, 35 hours per week.

Schedule:  Evenings, and 1 weekend day.
