The Opportunity
The Outreach worker manages a
caseload of participants who are at high risk for being a victim or perpetrator
of a shooting. Outreach workers see each client multiple times per week,
conveying a message of rejecting the use of violence, and assisting them to
obtain needed services such as job training and drug abuse counseling.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and canvassing
in the community (individually and as a team member
- Identify
youth who are gang members and those at risk for joining gangs and
intervening in their lives through case management
- Outreach
Workers are expected to have a minimum caseload of seven to ten
participants and meet face-to-face with each participant at least six
times a month.
- Must be on call to respond to SNUG emergency notifications and responsible
to answer work cell phone whenever it rings.
- Document
all their daily activities, including but not limited to contact with
program participants, conflict mediation encounters, shooting responses,
and community engagement events: barbecues, marches, rallies, etc.
- Risk-Reduction
Planning- to modify high-risk behaviors documented in the DCJS database every
90 days in the database
- Participate
in organizing responses to shootings and increasing visibility when shootings
/ killings take place to coordinate an inclusive and strategic response).
- Serve
as linkages and support for individuals to enhance their assistance and
use of opportunities and programs in the community (e.g. job programs, GED,
drug treatment, and mentoring).
- Attend
mandatory training and professional development training which may include
virtual means of technology
- Assume other tasks and responsibilities
as assigned to ensure the effective operation of the program.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills required.
- Valid NYS Driver's License required.
Compensation Information
• FCA is committed to a salary framework that aligns with our culture and values. The compensation range reflected is in alignment with our framework and individual pay decisions will vary based on skills and experience' while still allowing for growth.
Additional Information
Salary: $22/hr
This role is full-time (35 hours/week), Exempt.
