Psychiatrist/Medical Director


Primary Responsibilities include:

-  Conduct diagnostic assessments and diagnose clients according to DSM-5 criteria.  Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications

-  Complete health assessments and determine appropriateness for treatment admission

-  Induction, observation, and long-term management of individuals on Vivitrol, buprenorphine, and other prescribed medications for supported recovery of substance use disorders

-  Provide clinical services that are culturally competent and sensitive to the racial and ethnic backgrounds of the community served

-  Collaborate with the clinicians on client treatment and provide education on both medical and mental health topics

-  Utilize Electronic Health Record for billing, prescribing and documentation.

-  Coordinate care with outside physical and mental health providers when necessary

-  Assume responsibilities of the Medical Director and develop and maintain medical policies and procedures

-  Maintain medical records in compliance with mandated regulations

-  Supervise Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and interns

Qualifications and Requirements include:

-  Currently licensed as a Physician by the New York State Department of Education

-  Board Certified in Psychiatry required. Double Board Certified in Adult and Child Psychiatry desirable

-  Active DEA with DATA 2000 waiver required

-  Recent experience in an outpatient setting and in diagnosing and treating mental disorders of the substance abusing; MICA population is strongly preferred

-  Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office

Schedule:

-  Part-time, 28 hours per week, travel between the 2 sites may be necessary

-  Schedule is flexible but requires some evening hours
