Student Intern (Residential Division-RHY)

The Opportunity

Walkabout is a transitional independent living program in Freeport serving runaway and homeless young men and women ages 16-23.  The program provides shelter and services for up to 18 months to prepare young adults for independent living. The program is 100% voluntary.  All referrals come from the Nassau County youth crisis shelter, Nassau Haven.

In addition, the intern will provide referrals to clients, conduct ISPs (Individual service plans) and goal planning for each resident on a monthly basis, and participate in Step up to Success (independent living skills) tasks with clients.
