Donor Engagement and Communication Coordinator

Location: Garden City/Hybrid | Schedule: Part-Time | Status: Non-Exempt | Salary Range: $35.00-$36.00/hour

The Opportunity

Join Family & Children's Association (FCA) as the Coordinator of Donor Communications & Engagement and help strengthen the relationships that fuel our mission. In this dynamic role, you will lead donor communications, digital engagement, peer-to-peer fundraising, and stewardship initiatives that inspire generosity and deepen connections with our supporters.

As the voice of the donor, you will create compelling stories, develop integrated fundraising campaigns, manage donor journeys, and serve as a concierge for peer-to-peer fundraisers. Working collaboratively with Development, Marketing, and program teams, you will ensure every donor interaction reflects FCA's mission, values, and commitment to making a meaningful impact across Long Island.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive donor communications strategy supporting fundraising campaigns, stewardship, donor retention, and engagement initiatives.
  • Create and manage an annual communications calendar aligned with fundraising priorities and organizational goals.
  • Write and oversee donor-facing content including appeals, newsletters, stewardship communications, impact reports, campaign messaging, fundraising webpages, and email marketing.
  • Ensure consistent voice, messaging, and branding across all donor communication channels.
  • Analyze donor engagement metrics to refine messaging and improve fundraising performance.
  • Lead donor-focused social media and digital engagement strategies that strengthen supporter relationships and increase giving.
  • Create compelling mission-centered content highlighting client impact, volunteer engagement, donor stories, and organizational achievements.
  • Coordinate content across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, email marketing, and emerging digital platforms.
  • Develop integrated digital campaigns connecting social media, email, fundraising events, and peer-to-peer initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns using Givebutter and other fundraising platforms.
  • Provide personalized support, coaching, fundraising resources, messaging templates, and toolkits for peer fundraisers.
  • Track campaign performance and identify opportunities to increase participation, donor acquisition, and fundraising revenue.
  • Design and manage donor journeys for new, recurring, lapsed, major, and peer-to-peer donors.
  • Partner with Development Operations to automate donor communications, segmentation, and stewardship touchpoints.
  • Support donor recognition and stewardship initiatives that strengthen long-term relationships and donor loyalty.
  • Collaborate with Development Operations to develop communication triggers for pledges, recurring gifts, lapses, campaign milestones, and donor anniversaries.
  • Lead communications strategy for annual appeals, giving days, fundraising campaigns, and special events.
  • Support event promotion, participant communications, sponsorship recognition, and post-event stewardship.
  • Monitor communications, fundraising, and digital engagement metrics to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Stay current on fundraising, digital marketing, and donor engagement best practices to enhance supporter experiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Journalism, or a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, marketing, donor engagement, or related experience.
  • Excellent written, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing email marketing platforms, social media channels, and digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship strategies, fundraising communications, and donor lifecycle management.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Givebutter, donor CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and fundraising software is preferred.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to analyze engagement metrics and use data to improve communications and fundraising outcomes.
  • Creative thinker with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for relationship building.
