Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA)

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Director and THRIVE Everywhere Program Coordinator to develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative community outreach plan.
  • Identify in-community needs of recovery community and organize and oversee community events to meet these needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Director and THRIVE Everywhere Program Coordinator to identify ongoing and new ways to address the needs of the recovery community.
  • Assist in developing plans for expanding the agency's presence.
  • Assist in managing, printing, purchasing and preparation of materials used for outreach programs
  • Keep communication open and continuous with agency, supervisor, staff & members of the team of new and important information that could support ongoing and development of new programs within the agency. Also keep agency apprised of new developments such as resources, organizations, and agencies as they become available.
  • Attend & organize public, private & special outreach events throughout both counties. Develop, manage, and coordinate setup and breakdown teams for said events. 
  • Meet and greet patrons, and conduct giveaways
  • Provide information and literature about the program to potential recoverees and individuals in the community at events
  • Record events (i.e. photos, videos, audio for social media purposes)
  • Responsible for collecting completed photo/video release forms
  • Provide monthly reports for agency and agency partners including being responsible for collecting sign in sheets at public, private and special outreach events to be given to supervisor for monthly reports

Qualifications and Requirements include:

·  High school diploma or GED.

·  Completion of Recovery Coach Training Academy (46 hours).

·  NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA or CRPA-Provisional) certification required.

·  1-2 years relevant experience in marketing, community outreach, and events management.  Knowledge of Long Island recovery community. Knowledge of prevention, treatment, and recovery resources. 

·  Valid NYS driver's license with a safe and responsible driving history

 Schedule:

·  Part-Time 17 hours per week

·  Hours of operation are 12pm-10pm, hours vary. 

·  Must work one weekend day.
