Location: Elmont, NY | Schedule: Full-Time, 35 hours/week | Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $19.23/Hour

The Opportunity

Family and Children’s Association FCA is currently hiring a Residential Counselor to join our Community Residence program, which supports adults living with persistent mental illness. This program focuses on helping residents develop the daily living skills needed to transition toward more independent housing and greater self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the program and residence comply with all regulatory, safety, and funding requirements, including conducting regular security checks and fire drills
• Provide ongoing counseling and supervision to residents, supporting the development and implementation of individualized service plans.
• Supervise residents in daily living activities, including household responsibilities, personal care, and meal preparation.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee a structured recreational program that promotes socialization, wellness, and personal growth.
• Transport residents to appointments and recreational outings, ensuring their safety and timely attendance.
• Maintain thorough and timely documentation, including case notes, while performing routine cleaning and disinfecting of the residence in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.

Compensation
