School Based Counselor

The Opportunity

Family and Children’s Association (FCA) is excited to announce an opportunity for a School Counselor within our Families Support Division. This vital role is part of our Family First school-based counseling program located in Great Neck, NY.

The School Counselor will deliver trauma-informed, systems-based, and strength-based psychotherapy services in Spanish to ENL/ESL students and their families. The Counselor will work collaboratively with the school’s Guidance team and ENL/ESL staff to support student progress and well-being.


Responsibilities

  • Provide school-based individual and family psychotherapy services to students.
  • Conduct in-school group sessions.
  • Perform initial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with referral sources and other service providers.
  • Maintain client case records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and FCA policies.
  • Attend weekly clinical supervision.
  • Maintain a daily log of school hours.
  • Partner with school staff to support student treatment and access resources.
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Remain current on all agency policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Meet regularly with the Clinical Director to discuss client crises, team concerns, or operational needs.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects to support effective program and agency operations.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), Mental Health Counseling (MHC), or Social Work (MSW) required
  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) is required.
  • Minimum two years of experience providing counseling services to adolescents and families addressing issues such as substance abuse, family conflict, domestic violence, and school-related challenges.
  • At least three years of experience working with at-risk youth and families.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn program-specific software.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with a safe and responsible driving record.

Compensation Information

The competitive compensation range is reflected with FCA's framework, culture, and values. Individual pay decisions will vary based on skills and experience' while still allowing for growth.

    Additional Information

    • Location: Great Neck
    • $53,000 per year.  This position is non-exempt
    • Schedule: (M-F), evening and weekend hours as needed
    • This role is full-time (35 hours/week), Non-exempt.
