Prevention and Education Specialist

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Develop materials for outreach
  • Provide school based and professional trainings
  • Coordinate coverage for health fairs and community events
  • Develop educational resources
  • Be a part of a clinical team, assisting with office coverage when needed and be part of an on-call clinical phone rotation.
  • Work within clinical team on various projects and grants.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling OR CASAC Certification
  • Excellent use of the English Language, Spanish a plus.
  • 2 years' experience presenting in a professional and/or school settings preferred; knowledge of substance use disorders expected.
  • Valid NYS Driver's license with a safe and responsible driving history and a motor vehicle that is properly registered and insured in NYS.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to recognize sound professional judgement in identifying and recognizing problems. Must be able to prioritize responsibilities, adapt to changing priorities, establish goals and effectively manage time to achieve goals and deadlines.
  • Verbal and written skills must be professional and really understood by diverse population. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other employees, managers and the general public. Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor even when confronted with difficult and emotionally charged situations.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, multi-task, deadline-orientated environment and complete assignments independently. Must be sensitive to the various cultural backgrounds of clients, co-workers with whom there is contact during the course of performing the responsibilities of the position
