Information Technology - Assistant Vice President

The Opportunity

Family & Children's Association (FCA) is seeking an innovative and strategic technology leader to serve as our first dedicated Assistant Vice President of Information Technology. The AVP will lead the organization's technology strategy, governance, operations, and investments while serving as a trusted advisor to the C-suite.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and own FCA's multi-year technology roadmap aligned with organizational objectives, growth plans, and evolving business needs.
  • Serve as the executive technology advisor to the C-suite and Board of Directors, representing IT in strategic planning, governance discussions, and external stakeholder conversations.
  • Lead the transformation of IT from a traditional cost center to a value-delivery function, building executive confidence in technology as a strategic business enabler.
  • Identify emerging technologies and innovation opportunities that improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and support FCA's mission.

Governance & Investment

  • Establish IT governance structures, prioritization frameworks, and investment discipline across the organization.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop and defend business cases for technology investments, defining ROI and value realization metrics.
  • Define and oversee the IT metrics framework, including operational, delivery, cybersecurity, and business-value KPIs.
  • Deliver regular executive reporting on technology initiatives, performance, risks, and strategic outcomes.

Team & Vendor Management

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, accountable IT organization that supports FCA's current and future needs.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary executive liaison to Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and third-party technology vendors.
  • Oversee vendor performance, contract negotiations, service delivery, and escalation management.
  • Ensure effective project management practices and accountability across all technology initiatives.

Security & Compliance

  • Partner with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and organizational leadership to ensure a strong cybersecurity posture and compliance with healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA and applicable state requirements.
  • Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning to ensure organizational resilience.
  • Champion a culture of information security, data privacy, and compliance across all business units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a Senior Director, Vice President, or equivalent executive-level role.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading IT organizations within a nonprofit, healthcare, or mission-driven environment.
  • Healthcare sector experience, including clinical, administrative, or regulatory technology environments, is required.
  • Proven ability to translate business strategy into technology investment roadmaps and gain executive stakeholder trust.
  • Track record of establishing IT governance, project management disciplines, and performance metrics from an early-stage or developing technology environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing Managed Service Providers (MSPs), technology vendors, and enterprise technology contracts.
  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, including Streamline EMR.
  • Experience with Human Capital Management (HCM) platforms, including Dayforce HRMS.
  • Background in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), enterprise AI governance, or emerging technologies.
  • Experience leading organizations through digital transformation, systems modernization, or large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Familiarity with grant-funded programs, government contracts, and nonprofit operating environments.
