Senior Contract Specialist

Location: Garden City, NY | Schedule: Full Time, 35 hour/week Monday - Friday |Salary Range:$27-31/Hour

The Opportunity

Position Summary: The Senior Contract Specialist is responsible for the preparation and submission of claims to various funding sources, ensuring claims are accurate, timely and compliant with contract and funding requirements. The Senior Contract Specialist is also responsible for monitoring the contract budgets to ensure that funding is maximized.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare assigned contract claims and related supporting documentation needed to meet the requirements of funding sources.
  • Monitor and approve contract expenses utilizing the ERP system to ensure claims are aligned with available funding.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with fiscal team, program staff and funding sources.
  • Prepare adjustments to the accounts receivable subledger to ensure proper accounting for advances, recoupments and disallowances
  • Maintain monthly cumulative reports for distribution to programs. Meet with program leadership quarterly to review program contract/grant spending.
  • Maintain information needed for agency and funding source audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with contract claims in a nonprofit environment.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting software, NetSuite experience a +.
