Per Diem Respite Worker

    The Opportunity
    The Respite Worker provides individual and group respite and rehabilitative services to children who are diagnosed with a mental health disorder. Services are provided in the child's home and/or community, are hands on, task-oriented and intended to help the child achieve their identified goals and objectives while allowing a temporary break for the child's caregiver.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide in-person on-site and off-site respite services to assist the child to develop and apply skills in natural settings.
    • Provide hands on and task-oriented activities based upon the child's needs.
    • Complete progress notes for each session and telephone calls.
    • Submit work by deadlines and in compliance with funding regulations and the agency's Compliance Plan.
    • Deliver and document services using a strength-based and family-driven approach.


    Qualifications

    Required:

      HS Diploma or equivalent

      Some experience working with children with special needs preferred

      Must demonstrate a knowledge of community resources.

      Valid New York State driver's license

      Ability to do home visitation

      Basic computer skills 


      Preferred:

      Experience in children's mental health, addiction, foster care and/or a related human services field


      Schedule: Up to 19 hours per week, afternoon and evening hours
