Rehabilitation Counselor

The Opportunity

The Vocational Counselor will support the educational and vocational development of individuals receiving services in the Family Treatment and Recovery Centers through the provision of assessment, training, and referral services. The Vocational Counselor will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.


Responsibilities

  • Perform a vocational/educational and work readiness assessment on clients within the substance use programs
  • Develop a vocational rehabilitation plan with short and long term goals in coordination with client and Primary Clinician
  • Meet with clients at minimum 1x monthly and coordinate activities to assist in goal attainment
  • Develop and implement a curriculum to provide pre-vocational and vocational activities in individual and group settings to increase client involvement in employment, skills training, and/or educational activities
  • Develop and maintain linkages with community based educational, vocational, and employment support service and coordinate referrals as needed
  • Provide employment maintenance services that support advancement in career development
  • Function as an integral member of the inter-disciplinary treatment team and participate in case conferences, team meetings, and in-service workshops
  • Provide training and consultation to treatment program staff on vocational rehabilitation principles and practices and help to insure coordination and integration of vocational services within the overall treatment process
  • Complete and maintain up-to-date and accurate case records, in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements, recording client's status and progress
  • Collect and track monthly statistics on active census' work related activities, work readiness status, and employment status
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or related field
    Minimum of one year of experience with career counseling of clients with alcohol/substance abuse disorders and/or clients from other disadvantaged populations.
    Must have intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. 
  • Valid and clean driver's license is required.

Salary: $24-25/hour
