PACT Intern (Unpaid)

Program Summary:

PACT (Parents and Children Together) is a FCA program which serves the Village of Hempstead and its surrounding communities. We focus on offering services to youth whom are at risk of unprotected sexual activity, early pregnancy, as well as pregnant and parenting teens. The PACT Program's goals is to utilize the principles of Positive Youth Development to encourage vulnerable adolescents towards choices and behaviors that offer greater opportunities for personal, social, educational and economic success. In addition services will help equip pregnant and parenting teens to care for themselves and their babies.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Intern will assist Case Manager with the core program services which are prevention workshops, assessments, individual short-term counseling, advocacy and referrals to other services. The intern will be required to conduct in-home visits and transport clients in an agency vehicle.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

  • Senior level undergraduate social work student OR 1st Year Master of Social Work (MSW) student OR 2nd Year Master of Social Work (MSW) student
  • Valid New York State driver's license with a safe and responsible driving history to conduct home/field visits and transport clients
  • Vehicle that is properly registered and insured by New York State and is available for use to conduct home/field visits
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus

Schedule:

  • 9am - 5pm Weekdays, Days are flexible, Some evening hours may be required
  • Blended Work (Remote & On-Site Assignments)

Supervisor Credentials:

  • LMSW, SIFI Certified
