Location: Garden City, NY | Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week |Status: Non-Exempt |Salary: 19.83/hour

The Opportunity

Family and Children's Association (FCA) is seeking a Facilities Specialist who will be responsible for general upkeep of the agency's facilities.  The Facilities Specialist will ensure vehicles and major equipment are kept in good working condition through regular maintenance, repair and replacement when required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders promptly and professionally.
• Ensure the environments of all facilities, parking lots and sidewalks are free of any impediments that could cause safety hazards for clients and staff.
• Complete regular maintenance tasks, including replacing light bulbs, changing ballasts, cleaning and servicing HVAC systems, inspecting and repairing plumbing fixtures, and performing general repairs on equipment and facilities
• Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc.
• Perform minor carpentry, touch up and painting.
• Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed.
• Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash removal, etc.
• Responsible for set up and breakdown of events in a timely manner. Schedule subject to change on event days.
• Ensure that all agency walkways are safe and accessible during adverse weather conditions
• Assist with monthly inspections and quarterly HQS Inspection.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of prior working experience in building maintenance.
  
• Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  
• Must have the ability and skills to use various types of power equipment.
• Must have the ability to do heavy lifting and moving furniture
• Valid and clean driver's license required.
